Unwrapping a Special Gift

“You guys have an extra special treat today,” Kessler Principal Craig Crawford told the school’s first graders, who had gathered in the school library Wednesday afternoon. They were eager to unwrap colorful new books provided to them by the Helena Education Foundation.

The celebration was part of the Fabulous Firsts program, now in its 10th year. It gifts a hardcover book to each first-grader in Helena’s 11 public elementary schools, more than 500 students in total. About half of the schools have received the books so far, with the rest set to be handed out in the next two weeks.
